As seen at Fendi, Valentino, and Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2021 runways, the hippy 1970s-inspired crochet is trending again. Cher and Melanie Griffith sported this style almost four decades ago. Now, the likes of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid are going gaga over crochet attires!

In the Philippines, we have our own Maymay Entrata clad in her simple but chic white crochet crop top and denim shorts.   2. Bucket Hats

Bucket hats came to popularity in the 1980s after Western rappers started wearing them. They remained an integral part of street fashion into the 1990s.

From popular K-pop stars like BTS’ Jungkook and BLACKPINK’s Lisa, among others, who were frequently seen with their vintage-style bucket hats as part of their airport fashion, it seems like bucket hats are here to stay!

In an IG post, actress Julia Baretto was photographed by the Manila’s go-to celebrity fashion photographer, BJ Pascual while also sporting a stylish bucket hat.

  3. Flared Pants

Another retro fashion piece coming back to the scene this 2021 are the stylish flared pants!

Flared pants are also called “bell-bottoms” due to their unique shape. This style goes way back to the early 19th century. During this time, US Navy sailors wore these types of trousers. Come 1990s, these pants were called “boot-cuts” and can be found on the runways of many popular fashion shows.

Flared pants are coming back with a bang this 2021 and are one of the staple fashion pieces of vlogger Rei Germar.

  4. Tie Dye Shirts

Nothing says retro more than a tie dye shirt. Tie dye shirts are most commonly associated with the hippie era of the 1960s. Two decades later, many fashion designers started dressing their models in this retro fashion style.

In an Instagram post, actress and former PBB housemate Elisse Joson wore a cotton candy pink, blue, and lavender-dyed shirt, partnered with a dainty pink-striped hat.

Wanting to get creative anytime soon with a tie dye DIY project? MTV star Bretman Rock and famous Tik Tok personality Bella Poarch got you covered! Watch their video on making cute tie-dyed jammies here.

  5. Denim on Denim

What’s not to love about the classic denim on denim?

Double denim became popular in the 1960s. Since then, the trend always comes back as people just love the classic look of denim outfits.

The country’s resident fashionista, Ms. Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero, better known in the entertainment industry as Heart Evangelista, sported a double denim in an Instagram post. It’s not just any ordinary denim outfit, though! She’s dressed in Chanel from head to toe!
