In this article, we will review the Top Celebrity Mishaps. So let's go and wrap up this year's top celebrity trending issue. How does that sound? 2022 is almost over and this year has been a roller coaster ride mainly in the showbiz industry. 

 

Issues are set in the limelight this year and some may consider it 'drama' while some enjoy it. Who doesn't want tea, Sis? These issues have been subject to audience verdicts and people's stances. From abrupt public couple's split to celebrities being cruel human beings. All these buzzes provided by the stars of the industry made 2022 more memorable. The biggest scoop of the year is here. Fortunate to some, but not with these celebrities listed in this year's top issues of 2022. So much has happened in the past months and show business has been doing its job in entertaining news making this the Year of Celebrity Mishaps. Social media platforms were filled with controversies and we know some of you may still be intrigued, or need some hot read, either way, we are here to talk about it. Moira dela Torre and Jason Hernandez Breakup

First on our list is the split of the well-known musical couple, who were famous for their song collaboration, Moira dela Torre and Jason Hernandez. After three years of being married, the two decided to end their harmonious marriage and announced it in an IG post.  "It is with a heavy heart that after 3 years of marriage, we announce that we are parting ways," Jason shared a statement with Moira on his Instagram account confirming their separation. Jason revealed he had been unfaithful to Moira while they were together. "Though my love for her has always been genuine, a few months ago, I confessed to Moira that I have been unfaithful to her during our marriage," Jason added. He publicly confessed the cheating on his part and was the reason to end their marriage.  Prior to that, a breakup rumor between the two also spread around April when fans noticed Moira removed several posts of him with Jason from her social media accounts, but later on, Jason break the silence and confirm that the speculation was not true and that they are still together—however, ended up swallowing his words.

Moira dela Torre is known for hitmaker Malaya and other heart-aching and breakup songs while Jason is famous for writing songs and music-inclined profession. The two have been best friends for years after they decided to get married and tied the knot last January 2019. Just hoping that the algorithm of Moira's songs did not bring her any harm.

 

Shopee Names Toni Gonzaga as an Endorser

Next on the list is the infamous online shopping company and its recent launching of a new endorser. To the shock, the Multimedia Star and YouTuber Toni Gonzaga were announced as the newest ambassador of Shopee last October. Later on, Toni received multiple bashing and direct shades after the news. One of the leading competitors of Shopee is Lazada and some netizens said that they will most likely switch to the latter. This is their way to take a stance on the issue and express disappointment to Shopee in choosing someone like Toni Gonzaga to represent their brand. 

 

To recap, during the election season, Toni was also a popular endorser of a political party, and during one of her performances during the campaign, she would say the word "sabay-sabay" and became famous. Through this, the netizens made the context of the controversial tweet of Lazada Philippines on Twitter after the news, "Pwede gumamit ng vouchers sa Lazada nang sabay-sabay,". Recently, Shopee unauthorized the use of stacking multiple vouchers at single ordering which alarmed the avid online shoppers of Shopee—which we all know was kind of upsetting. 

 

Donnalyn Bartolome Baby-Themed Photoshoot

 

"Neh" to "Meh"—Third on the list is the controversial baby-themed photoshoot of also a social media personality, singer, and known Filipino YouTuber with 9.57 million subscribers, Donnalyn Bartolome. On her 28th birthday, Donnalyn uploaded photos on her Facebook account dressed as a baby in garments as a theme for her birthday photoshoot. Many expressed their dismay and it seems that it is obviously sexualizing innocence that has been reported as alleged paraphilic infantilism or a fetishistic practice that resembles regressing to an infantile level by a member of a mom group on FB. In one of the photos, Donna wore a onesie, weirdly, sucking a baby bottle. On the other, she only wore a bib as her top to cover her boobs, yet still showing a little under. Her bottom is a piece of cloth that is pinned on the side and poses as an erotic baby. 

 

Donnalyn's post gained mixed reactions. From well-wishes to some uncomfortable comments to hate and bashing. This alarmed the netizens, mostly moms who believed that this is uncomfortable to see her dress as an intimate baby as this could feed more disturbing fantasies enabling sexual predators and pedophiles to prey on minors, especially innocent babies. Donnalyn the next day,  apologized through a post and owned up to her mistakes. Almost 18 hours after being uploaded, Donnalyn took down the post. 

 

Ella Cruz, "History is Tsismis"

Fourth on the list is the famous line that shook the internet as well as the historians on Ella Cruz' take on history and chismis. During an interview promoting her character portrayal as Irene Marcos in Darryl Yap's upcoming movie, Maid in Malacañang, Actress Ella Cruz answered "history is like chismis," when asked about the lessons she learned from portraying the said character. "It is filtered and dagdag na rin, so, hindi natin alam what is the real history. Andoon na iyong idea, pero may mga bias talaga. As long as we're here alive in my kanya-kanyang opinion, I respect everyone's opinion,"  she added. She was showered with flak on social media though she viewed it as a harmless stance defending her role in the film. Ella Cruz continued to trend mainly on Twitter as netizens threw jokes and several meme mocking remarks against her. Various historians and authors were alarmed by this issue. Heart Evangelista and Chiz Escudero Split

Fifth on the list is the separation rumors of the known socialite, businesswoman, and Filipino actress Heart Evangelista to her husband Chiz Escudero, a lawyer and politician. The speculation was triggered after netizens observed the changes in Heart's removal of the surname Escudero from her profile name on Instagram. Evangelista confirmed that she had been dealing with "personal struggles," which she did not clear about in anything specific. The actress also reported that is now living in a condo unit after she moved out of the home she shared with her humored ex-husband Escudero. The breakup issue further hounded when Heart snubbed Escudero's 53rd birthday on October 10. Heart consistently greeted Escudero through social media posts in recent years however posted only her designer bag on the said day. The bags are still a thing, though, I believe both have the same value for her. 

 

Johnny Depp VS Amber Heard

Brace yourselves as these gonna be a long one since 'this time's gonna be one on one as this sixth on the list are exes from Hollywood and the journey of their intense relationship results in trial. Johnny Depp is an American actor known for his various roles in Tim Burton's films and his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, Amber Heard is also an American Actress who garnered attention in her role in Pineapple Express in 2008. 

 

The two started dating in early 2012 after they starred in 2009's The Rum Diary. In 2014, Depp and Heard were reportedly engaged after a picture emerged of the actress wearing an engagement ring. Depp, later on, confirmed through a video interview. A year after, they got married in a private ceremony in their home in Los Angeles. In the next year, Heard filed for divorce from Depp and accused him of physical abuse during their relationship and claimed that it was usually done by him under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Depp denied the accusation and said that Heard was trying to secure a financial resolution by alleging abuse. Later on, Heard withdrew the request for a domestic violence restraining order and received seven million dollars from the divorce but was donated to charity. Depp and Heard also released a joint statement and claimed that their relationship was intensely passionate, however always bound by love and were never intent on physical harm. The divorce was finalized in 2017.

 

In 2018, Heard released a statement saying she was abused. In the following year, Depp sued Heard for defamation over the statement in a Washington Post article. Last 2020, a phone recording was released in which Heard admitted to hitting Depp, and then the trial started. Months later, the trial began and proved that Depp was violent toward his Heard and justified that Depp is a "wife-beater." After months of trying to appeal against the high court ruling, Heard and Depp's $100 million libel suit began in April 2022. The court case began with opening statements from both parties' lawyers. Depp took a stand and Heard was the real abuser in their relationship. However, a doctor testified in the court that Depp forced Heard into oral sex during the time of sexual violence in their relationship. Heard also testified for the first time that she was abused by Depp when he was under the influence. After a long trial, the jury found both parties liable for defaming each other. 

 

Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock at the Oscars

The joke went wrong!— During the Oscars 2022, Will Smith blew the room after he approached and slapped the stage presenter Chris Rock right in front of hundreds of people after the latter made a joke about Smith's wife Pinkett's bald head. Rock was on the stage to receive the award for best documentary and began throwing a few jokes about the live audience including Pinkett—referred to her as "G.I Jane" due to hair loss. To recall, Pinkett has opened up about her battle with alopecia. Shortly, Will walked to the stage and slapped the comedian. He returned to his seat and yelled, "Keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth." If your question is did Will Smith apologize after the assault, the answer is yes, twice. The actor apologized in an on-camera video apology uploaded on YouTube. Prior to that Smith also did apologize right after the ceremony and described his behavior as "unacceptable and inexcusable". 

 

Ezra Miller's Arrest in Hawaii

In April, The Flash's star Ezra Miller was arrested for the second time in Hawaii for second-degree assault. The Hawaii Police Department reported that Miller threw a chair that hit a 26-year-old woman after being asked to leave a gathering. The woman was hit on her forehead and left with a half-inch cut. To recall, Miller was also arrested in the same state in March due to harassment and disorderly conduct. The actor reportedly took a mic from a woman that was singing at the karaoke bar and tried to attack another man that was playing darts. These issues are not Miller's initial record of being aggressive in the public. In April 2020, Miller choked a woman at a bar in Iceland appeared in the video that has surfaced. 

 

Adam Levine Accused of Infidelity

Back at it again with cheating issues as next on the list is another infidelity rumor. Singer-songwriter and the lead vocalist of the pop rock band Maroon 5, Adam Levine, was accused of cheating on his pregnant wife. Multiple women came forward after having an affair with the Maroon 5 singer. In September, Sumner Stroh posted a TikTok video saying she had an affair with Adam Levine. Other women started sharing their own stories the day after she posted on social media. The comedian Maryka shared images of claimed DMs from the "She Will Be Loved" singer on her IG stories. Additionally, two TikTok videos of purported discussions with the performer were purportedly screenshotted by a lady going by the name of Alyson Rose. Alanna Zabel, a yoga instructor, also shared her story on Instagram, recounting a day in 2010 when the former Voice coach allegedly texted her. On September 20, Adam Levine released a statement in which he denied having an affair but acknowledged having "poor judgment." Despite the accusation, Prinsloo and Levine have seen together and broken social media silence through a throwback photo in an Instagram story. Maybe acceptance and moving on are a piece of cake if you are blinded by love. 

 

"The Try Guys" Ned Fulmer Drama

Next is again, another cheating husband drama. I bet that even if you don't know or follow these guys' content, you may have bumped into one of their dramas last September. Following accusations of an alleged affair, the well-known YouTube group stated that one of its four members, Ned Fulmer, would no longer be working with the video producers. As soon as the news broke, the group issued a joint statement on social media announcing Ned's separation from the group. On October 3, the remaining Try Guys made a five-minute video statement regarding the situation. Apparently, Ned was cheating on his wife with another producer on the Try Guys. (Ned must not be aware of the work and personal life balance). Ned released a message on social media the same day announcing his status as a former Try Guy. Ariel Fulmer, the wife, shared a statement asking for privacy for herself, Ned, and their children.

 

The Try Guys, originally made up of Kornfeld, Habersberger, Yang, and Ned, began their wildly famous video series in 2014 while working for BuzzFeed. As their name implies, they would experiment with various things for the media company's YouTube channel. 

 

We Filipinos love to talk and give an opinion. However, gossiping about showbiz is kind of our thing lately. People tend to mark themselves safe from gossipers but love them to do the same. Filipinos tend to be more invested in mystery and allegations rather than knowing the truth and apparently it is how show business works. Gossiping is like a pastime, especially an effective way to chill if boredom strikes, or worse, hunger. Filipinos are naturally curious about things like showbiz or politics and really drive the imagination because the world loves drama and gossip.
