Agoo Basilica

The Franciscan order founded the basilica in 1578. Agoo Basilica, officially named Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Charity, was first dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi. After construction from the earthquake, the basilica was and is the seat of the Santa Monica Parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Fernando de La Union, and houses holy relics of saints. The basilica is also contains Hebrew script carvings of the ten commandments.

The centuries-old site, also called the Baluarte Watchtower, is one of the five historic watchtowers in La Union, and serves as a lookout tower during the Chinese, Japanese, and Moro pirates invasion back in the day. At present, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions, and stands next to the pebble beach, showing a beautiful scenery that visitors will get to capture.

Constructed in 1977, the temple stands as an iconic cultural landmark in San Fernando. It is the first Taoist temple in the Philippines, serving dedication to the Chinese sea goddess Mazu (Ma Cho).
